These animal paintings were inspired by the design concepts of native Australian paintings. These paintings traditionally depicted the stylized interior and exterior of an animal, had closed shapes of color, and intricate dot patterning.
Our students began by sketching a range of animals from reference materials. Once they chose a subject, they enlarged their drawings, simplifying them and incorporating bones and patterns. Then they chose a color palette based on lessons in color theory to finish their works.
These beautiful, intricate, large-scale paintings are now on display in the Middle School Forum. Come by and see for yourself!
